Samet Nangshe Viewpoint – A View That Makes You Pause

Some places don’t need words.
You just stand there… and look.

Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Phang Nga, located about an hour from Phuket. It overlooks the iconic Phang Nga Bay, where limestone islands rise quietly from the sea.

It’s simple, natural, and incredibly powerful.

Highlights of Samet Nangshe Viewpoint

  • Panoramic view over Phang Nga Bay
  • One of the best sunrise spots in Thailand
  • Unique limestone karsts scattered across the sea
  • Peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by nature
  • Multiple photo spots with different angles

What It Feels Like Up There

If you arrive before sunrise and wait…
you’ll understand why people wake up at 4 AM.

The sky slowly changes color
Soft mist floats above the water
The islands appear one by one

Everything feels still, but alive at the same time

No noise. Just the wind.
And somehow, you stay longer than you planned.

Best Time to Visit

Samet Nangshe is beautiful all day, but the best moments are:

  • Sunrise (the real highlight)
  • Early morning with soft light
  • Cool season when mist is more visible

Midday is still nice, but the feeling is different.

How to Get There

Samet Nangshe is located in Phang Nga province:

  • About 60–70 km from Phuket
  • Around 1 to 1.5 hours by car

Once you arrive at the base:

  • You can take a pickup truck up
  • Or hike up (steep but doable)

There are now cafes and accommodations at the top, making it much more convenient.

Who Is It For

  • Nature lovers
  • Landscape photographers
  • People looking for quiet moments
  • Couples or slow travelers

Tips Before You Go

  • Wake up early, or you’ll miss the best part
  • Check the weather before going
  • Bring a light jacket (mornings can be cool)
  • Wear proper shoes if you plan to walk up
  • Don’t rush, stay and take it in

Conclusion

Samet Nangshe is more than just a viewpoint.

It’s a place that slows you down
Makes things quieter
And somehow clearer

Sometimes…
all you need is the sea, the mountains, and the morning light

And that’s enough.

Instagram place.
Very steep ride to come here by van.
100 baht round trip.
Must visit if you come to phuket or Krabi.
You can drive car and come to ticket counter and enough car parking space, truck drivers will take you up safely.

I highly recommend it if you're passing through.
This is a cheaper and higher-end viewpoint than the Skywalk (which is 800THB for litteraly nothing).
Price: 100THB (Round trip with 4x4), you can hike until the view point for free (about 30min) but it's not recommended it's very steep and rugged.
There is a car park for free parking of cars and scooters.

Worth Visiting!!! ♥️♥️
The Google Map will take you to another private place which has a glass bridge and charges 700-800 ThB per person.
The starting point of this place is a bit ahead of the private property.
You can hike upto the view point which is quite strenuous for normal people. Alternatively they have 4x4 Car which can be hired @ 100 ThB per person.
Must Visit place while traveling from Phuket to Krabi or vice versa.

Sky walk glass bridge, restaurant, resort, camp style huts and many more.
You can choose 700 baht offer for skywalk and a buffet in the restaurant on the top. We had choices of rice with Thai chicken curry, salads, boiled eggs, spaghetti carbonara, soup, khanom chin with curries etc.
Or
You can choose the offer of sky walk and have Al-a-carte. You cn choose pizza or other cuisine at restaurant.
The view is beautiful from the skywalk. You can observe the mangrove trees, mountains and river meeting with sea water.

I am writing this review for everyone who has never been here before and for those who might otherwise make the same mistake we did on our first attempt. There are two main ways to reach the viewpoint overlooking the bay, especially if you go early in the morning as we did.

First of all, be aware that even very early in the morning this place is already extremely crowded. We arrived at around 5:30 am and found more people than at many popular attractions during daytime. Honestly, I cannot imagine how packed it must be later in the day.

One option is the large, highly commercial parking area, where you can also watch the sunrise. I personally do not recommend this option, as ticket prices there are extremely high.

The second option, which is what we chose and would recommend, is to continue a bit further past the main parking area along a dirt road. A short distance ahead, you will find a smaller dirt parking area where you can buy tickets for 100 baht per person. From there, you are taken to the top of the mountain by a 4x4 or off-road vehicle. The road is steep, dusty, and rough, so be careful as it is easy to get dirt.

Once at the top, the view is absolutely stunning and more than worth the price paid. Despite the crowds, the scenery makes the effort worthwhile if you choose the right way to get there.
